The USA Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course continues to expand their training in order to address the needs of various demographics. Mental Health First Aid is an in-person training that teaches you how to help people developing a mental illness or in a crisis. Janet DeMars, one of our Jaywalker counselors, has recently completed certification in the Higher Education module of Mental Health First Aid. In addition to the higher education designation, the MHFA organization also has modules that focus on veterans and the military, public safety, and those that live in a rural area. The MHFA training is an 8-hour course and will be offered this spring semester at Colorado Mountain College on Wednesday nights at the Carbondale campus.
