/  Recovery   /   Remaining Professionally Adaptable

Any professional organization that deals with the health, wellness, and healing of individuals and communities must remain alert, educated, and adaptable. While the primary and most effective treatments for alcoholism and addiction remain founded in the 12-Step program model of recovery, there are always new ways to approach people with this solution. However, it is not always that simple.

In the fields of mental health, emotional wellness, and trauma healing, there seem to always be new methodologies, new approaches for care, and new scientific information. Because of how these areas impact the overall health of a person and how they intertwine with the effectiveness of 12-Step programs, it is imperative to remain not only adaptable, but informed enough to adapt properly.

The Jaywalker Difference

Luckily for those who come to Jaywalker Lodge, helping people recover isn’t just our job. It is our singular passion and our deepest calling. Every member of our staff lives and breathes the core philosophy of Jaywalker Lodge. We don’t simply do research or read up on new data and therapy methods while we’re “on the clock” — doing so is part of our daily lives. We’re never off the clock here. Because the new information and treatment methods available apply to our lives as well as yours, staying recovered ourselves and helping you recover is what our lives are centered around. We just all happen to be lucky enough to be doing it here together.

We have a multi-disciplinary team of substance abuse and health professionals on staff, many of whom have personal, first-hand experience with the disease and recovery from it. We take great care of our team, and we’ve all come together here because the core beliefs and values of Jaywalker Lodge speak to our hearts personally and professionally. Many who work here at Jaywalker Lodge are so grateful for their own recovery that they can’t help but let that influence their day-to-day work at the Lodge. So it isn’t just a matter of cutting-edge mental health therapies, it’s personal for us. The fact that what we do here every day is a big part of our own lives ensures that we stay on top of what’s going on in the various fields and what’s actually working for people like us — because we help people just like us.

Keeping a Close Watch on Constant Change

Just about every field of knowledge and health are constantly changing as more information is discovered and made public, new methods are tried, and old methods are tested for effectiveness. We learn and we grow. We apply and we analyze. When you have a group of people as personally invested and as privately experienced with the very things we help people through, staying at the forefront of knowledge and utility is a natural by-product. The staff at Jaywalker Lodge stays on top of the news in their respective fields not just to perform better, but because it’s meaningful to them. We don’t casually experiment with “flavor of the month” methodologies here. We go with what works best, and when new treatments are developed, we do our research and find what’s most effective.

Our primary mission is to help men who suffer from the disease of alcoholism and addiction. Many of us are recovered from that same condition. We specialize in dealing with men who truly want to recover, but cannot do it alone. Typically, they’ve tried multiple times to get recovery to stick for them and nothing has worked. That was our story as well. Having enjoyed recovery personally for significant lengths of time, we feel confident that we’ve identified the most common pitfalls and developed effective strategies to prevent them. Some of our methods don’t require us to remain adaptable — they require us to remain connected. The 12-Step program model has been proven effective in hundreds of thousands of cases for over 75 years, and we know how to introduce it into the lives of the men who come to Jaywalker Lodge.

Adapting Through a Holistic Approach

In the areas of mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual health, there is always new information coming to light. Trauma healing, mental health therapies, nutrition, and exercise are always evolving and growing to incorporate more effective avenues of treatment. In this area, we do and must remain flexible and adaptable. Our holistic approach to recovery naturally weaves in plenty of space for dealing with health, healing, and fitness in each of the categories listed above. We want the men who come to Jaywalker Lodge to receive the best, most effective healing and treatment available. We know these areas affect the recovery process and perhaps even more importantly, they impact the quality of life for our men. And that’s our biggest desire — to show everyone who comes to us that they can live a life in recovery that is bursting with healing, hope, growth, purpose, and joy in ways they never thought possible.

It’s vital to have a rock-solid foundation for how we help people, but it’s just as important to be aware of the changes that follow new information and science. With one foot firmly rooted in time-tested methods and the other foot taking advantage of the gifts of science and technology, Jaywalker Lodge is able to remain professionally adaptable and constantly effective in helping people recover.

Alcoholism and addiction are met with an effective solution in the 12-Steps, which is why they remain the core of the Jaywalker Lodge program. However, many who suffer from this disease also deal with trauma and mental health issues that can complicate recovery if not treated holistically. At Jaywalker Lodge, we have the tools you need to finally achieve long-term recovery. If you or someone you know is struggling to maintain lasting recovery despite an earnest desire to do so, we believe we can help where little else has before.
