Outdoor Drug Rehab Program
Recreation & Service Expeditions
The men at Jaywalker Lodge are highly motivated to recover: we work hard in treatment and in service to the community every day. And when it’s time to play, the Rocky Mountains teach us the value of “serious fun” and what it really means to “live in the moment.” Check out some video from our expeditions and mountain recreation — all designed to contribute in meaningful ways to your drug or alcohol rehab.
12 Steps in Action
The mission of our Expedition program is to lead the client to new places, physically and emotionally, for the purpose of renewing the mind and becoming a transformed man.
Like the clinical program at Jaywalker Lodge, our Expedition Program operates in two phases for the rehab client; Initial and Transitional. During each phase the expedition program focuses on specific goals designed to enhance the client’s Jaywalker experience.
Our Initial Phase expedition offerings are chosen to meet three overarching goals:
- Developing new, healthful habits of exercise.
- Introduction to various outdoor pursuits and experiences.
- Identifying and cultivate leadership traits found in each client.
The Transition Phase expedition offerings are chosen to meet two basic goals:
- Leadership development.
- Outdoor skill development and mastery.
Each day, Jaywalker clients in both Initial and Transition phases are provided opportunities for aerobic and strength development. These include walking, running, biking, Pilates and weight training.
Our weekly and monthly outings include summer/autumn hut trips, camping, hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, rock climbing, nordic skiing, alpine skiing or snowboarding, snowshoeing and rafting.
